  • What can I expect if I take the Reese Firearms Concealed Carry Class?

  • What do I need to do to get my concealed carry permit?
    • The first thing you need to do is take a concealed carry class, such as one Reese Firearms offers.
  • After the class then what?
    • After you have successfully completed the Concealed Carry Class with Reese Firearms you will receive a North Carolina Department of Justice certificate of completion which will allow you to apply for your permit with your local sheriff.
  • How long after I take the class until I get my concealed carry permit?
    • Typically, 90 days after you complete the class and turn in your application.
  • Do I need a pistol purchase or gun to take the class?
    • No, you do not. Just choose the All-Inclusive package which includes the use of a handgun, ammo, pizza lunch, range fees, eyes, ears, and you can shoot larger calibers all for $80 for one person $75 each for 2 or more.
  • If I choose the Bring Your Own Gun and Ammo can I still shoot the other firearms?
    • Absolutely! Everything but the qualification firearm and the required ammo for it is included.
  • I have never even held a handgun before, is this class good for me?
    • Without a doubt! Reese Firearms Concealed Carry class a mix of the NRA Basic Pistol and NC Concealed Carry Laws and Deadly Force. Perfect for new shooters and expert marksman alike.
  • Is there a written test?
    • Yes, 20 questions. True, false, and multiple choice. In my opinion, tests do not need to be hard for someone to show they have an understanding. You will be just fine.
  • Do I have to shoot the handgun?
    • Yes, you do. 30 rounds total. 10 rounds from the 3yd line, 10 rounds from the 5yd line, and 10 rounds from the 7yd line. 21 of 30 must hit the target. It is a very easy qualification. I guarantee you will pass.
  • Should I wait until I have my handgun to take the class?
    • I would recommend that you take the class as soon as possible. It will take approximately 90 days to get your concealed carry permit after you turn in your application and you cannot turn in the application until you have your concealed carry class completion certificate that you will receive from Reese Firearms.
  • Is the range outdoors?
    • Yes, there are very few indoor ranges in the triad and our private range is not one of them.
  • How far away is the range?
    • Only a 30-minute drive to Thomasville. You are dismissed from the range.
  • What about inclement weather?
    • It is very, very rare that class is canceled. People are very busy and have adjusted their schedules to complete the class, so we typically never cancel. Rain, sleet, or snow we will still hold class. If the student chooses to reschedule the entire class or just the range portion that is not a problem at all. We are here for you. The range will have awnings up if the weather is not ideal. Bad guys shoot in all weather conditions, you should be able to as well.
  • Is there an age limit to take the class?
    • Yes, you must be 18 to take the class but you may not apply for your concealed carry permit until you are 21.
  • What do I need to bring to class?
    • If you signed up for the All-Inclusive, then you do not need to bring anything. If you signed up for the Bring Your Own Handgun, then you must bring your handgun and 50 rounds of ammunition. Please do not bring ammunition in the classroom.
  • Can I split the class up?
    • Yes, just contact us for arrangements.
  • Does it make a difference that I do not live in the county that the class I held in?
    • No, it does not. This is a state-approved class so you can apply for your concealed carry permit any county that you reside.
  • Should I practice at the range before I take the class?
    • While practicing is always a good idea, it is not necessary. You will pass the shooting portion without any issues…yes, it really is that easy.
  • Can I borrow someone else’s handgun for the class?
    • Yes, you can. There is no law against borrowing a handgun.
  • How do I transport the handgun in my car?
    • The handgun can be either concealed or readily accessible, it cannot be both until you get your concealed carry permit.
  • I am a veteran is there a waiver for this class?
    • First of all thank you for your service, second there are no military waivers, and third GO NAVY.
